After a long time away from this page, I’m thrilled to return with a big announcement. Thanks to generous funding from the American Scandinavian Foundation, I’m going to Finland! I’ll be a 2018/2019 Folk Arts Fellow traveling to Finland to learn more about the jouhikko. After almost two years of remote study, I’m so excited to finally be able to sit in the same room with other jouhikko players to learn more about technique and traditional repertoire. I hope to have more to report as I prepare for the trip during the summer of 2019 and will try to keep this site updated more frequently if I can. If you’re a reader from Finland who has suggestions for me, please get in touch!
